Made from stainless steel for durability and better heat dissipation. DMM say that it stays a lot cooler on long abs when compared to its aluminium counterparts. It does make it feel rather heavy but in fact it is almost identical in weight to a Black Diamond ATC-XP - perhaps it just feels denser! DMM also say that they spent a long time playing around with the directional teeth in the body so that they allow you to easily control the friction without the side effects of the ropes sticking when you want to pay out quickly and that the unit works well on all ropes from skinny 8.0mms to fat 10.5mms.
